Artists In The School

Three Rivers Union School (K-8) had a wonderful art and art history program taught for many, many years by Three Rivers artist-educator Mona Selph. However, several years ago that program had to be eliminated due to state budget cuts. Since that time, the Arts Alliance has stepped in to help. The Arts Alliance, along with other community groups, has donated funds for art supplies. Individual Three Rivers artists as well have also helped provide needed art supplies. In addition, many of the Arts Alliance artists as well as some non-Arts Alliance artists volunteer their time as guest artists at the school in order to keep the art program alive. The Arts Alliance also sponsors an annual art contest at the school.

Redbud Arts And Crafts Festival

The Redbud Arts & Crafts Festival, held annually on Mother's Day weekend in May, is a two day arts and crafts festival, also featuring local musicians and food. The event is sponsored the Arts Alliance of Three Rivers and is well attended by Three Rivers and surrounding communities. About 56 artists and crafters participate yearly. Proceeds support the Lorraine Young Memorial Scholarship Fund for scholarships to local students and the activities of the Arts Alliance of Three Rivers.

Three Rivers Artist Brochure

The development of a Three Rivers Artsist Brochure,to help increase the visibility of artists to the general public, was a new project for the year. The copies of the printed brochure (graphic design by Nancy Brunson) are available at the local motels and other Three Rivers businesses as well as at the Historical Society Museum or by contacting Nikki Crain.
